MediaTaylor was formed in the early 1990s as a media investment and consulting business. We have been involved in a range of companies and projects including:
- Educational Communications (Aust.) a specialist MARCOMS agency that was sold to EdComs in 2008. Clients inc. Johnson & Johnson, Intel, News Corp., Kraft, Intel, major industry associations, NGOs and government departments
- Orange Clock Pty Ltd (Aust) – a MARCOMS consultancy whose clients were Kraft (Aust.), International SOS, the aluminium industry and News Corp.
- NetSchool Ltd (Aust).- developers of DaisyMaths the world’s first sponsored online maths tutoring service. Kraft (Aust.) who sponsored the site for four years described it as ‘the best sponsorship we have done in Australia!’
- Purple Panda – we helped the developers of Chinese translation technology yo license their technology to Oxford University Press for their Oxford Chinese Dictionary
- the assignment report , a subscription-based business intelligence report focusing on the UK education market. Sold to Meissa in 2008 . Subscribers inc. Pearson, Microsoft, RM, Nord Anglia, Tribal, Findel, Sovereign Capital, Alpha Plus, Cognita, CfBT and many others
- Cominded – social networking software development set up by ex-Bebo founder Paul Birch. Through Cominded we developed Tutpup a maths and spelling game that attracted 250,000 registered users in the 12 week beta. In 2009 we sold the company (via an equity swap) to MindCandy the owners of Moshi Monsters
- TSL Education, owners of the Times Education Supplement. We conducted a major review of the international tutoring market for the senior management team. In early 2011 TSL invested in BrightSpark Education (founded by Tom Hooper) one of the companies identified as being an acquisition target in our report
- KnowMaths is Tom Hooper’s second start-up (after selling Brightspark Education to TSL Education in 2012). KnowMaths is an online system for schools that diagnoses student ability and then connects them to a network of specialist online maths tutors, who act as virtual classroom assistants, offering one-to-one intervention to support a teachers classroom instruction
- AQA – we were commissioned to write a report looking at some of the major trends, players and investors in the international education market.
- Banks, investors and VC Funds – MediaTaylor has worked with many well-known investors in the educational sector. Projects range from commercial due dilligence to market analysis and aquisition target identification in the UK, Europe, India, China, the US and Australia
- ScienceAgoGo a consumer science portal established in 1998 whose content was licensed by Microsoft and the New Zealand government

- Was the first angel investor in Night Zookeeper. Night Zookeeper’s team have so far won StartUp Weekend edu (in Nov. 2011), Learning Without Frontiers, Tech Pitch 4.5 and were one of 16 winners (from 1100 entrants) at Telefonica’s first UK Wayra incubator competition
- MediaTaylor are one of the organisers and sponsors of Start Up Weekend EDU London 2013, whose local sponsors include Technology Strategy Board, OCR, MediaCore and Twig World and the assignment report.
